What it measures
The year-on-year percentage change in the Index of Industrial Production — a volume index tracking output across mining, manufacturing and electricity sectors.
How it is calculated
MoSPI's NSO compiles production-quantity data for ~407 item groups from source agencies (DGCI&S, Department of Fertilizers, power utilities, industry associations), weighted per the base year (2022-23, effective June 2026, superseding the earlier 2011-12 base) Annual Survey of Industries weights.

Revisions: Quick Estimate released monthly with a ~6-week lag; revised in subsequent months as source-agency data firms up, with a final revision after the fiscal year closes.
