What it measures
Gross National Product at current prices — GDP plus net factor income (wages, interest, profits, dividends) earned by Indian residents abroad, minus the same earned by foreign residents within India. India's NAS tables publish this aggregate under the modern SNA term "Gross National Income" (GNI) — the same figure GNP refers to.
How it is calculated
GNP = GDP at Market Prices + Net Factor Income from Abroad. NSO derives it from the national income aggregates published alongside GDP in the NAS (indicator_code=17, "Gross National Income", via MoSPI's eSankhyiki MCP server).
