What it measures
The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) — year-on-year inflation in the food & beverages component of CPI, tracked separately since food carries the largest single weight in India's consumption basket.
How it is calculated
Same NSO monthly price collection methodology as headline CPI, aggregated over the food-only item basket (base year 2012) rather than the full Combined basket.

Monthly, released ~12th of the following month by MoSPI
Revisions: Provisional index released monthly alongside headline CPI (~12th of the following month).
