Agriculture & Food Security · MoSPI NSO — National Accounts Statistics (mospi.gov.in) · data as of 2026-03-31

Latest value

  • Agriculture Sector — GVA Growth: 3.1%
  • As of: 2026-03-31

What it measures

The year-on-year growth rate of Gross Value Added (GVA) from Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry and Fishing, at constant (2011-12 base) prices — plus curated headline food-security metrics like total foodgrain production and Minimum Support Prices.

How it is calculated

Computed as the year-on-year percentage change in real (constant-price) Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry and Fishing GVA from MoSPI's National Accounts Statistics, the same method used for gdp-growth-rate; foodgrain production is separately aggregated by the Dept. of Agriculture from state-wise crop-cutting experiments.

Key figures

  • Total Foodgrain Production FY25: 3,309 Lakh MT (4th AE, DAC)
  • Agriculture Share in GVA: ~17% of GVA
  • MSP Wheat RMS 2025-26: ₹2,425/qtl (CCEA)
  • Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Limit: ₹3 Lakh (enhanced FY25)
  • PM-KISAN Annual Transfer: ₹6,000/farmer/year
